Why Ceiling Fans?

Ceiling fans are devices that are typically suspended from the ceiling of any room. Typically, they utilize rotating paddles to circulate (or spread) air in order to produce either a cooling or a warming effect.

Used in many residential and business buildings, ceiling fans are among the most important energy saving devices. Many ceilings fans can be utilized in two ways. Typically, most fans have an electrical switch for reversing the direction in which the ceiling fan blades rotate. During the summer season, the ceiling fan blade is typically set so as to blow air downwards. This creates a cooling effect. During the winter season, when buildings are heated, the warm air rises to the “top” of the cold air. A ceiling fan (with its direction set so as to pull air upward), takes the cooler air from the bottom and pushes it upwards. This makes the warm air to spread through out the room.

As a result of the above benefits of using ceiling fans in either the warm or cold season, these benefits can be maximized further if ceiling fans are used along with any heating or cooling equipment. This maximizes the performance efficiency of the equipment.

Parts of a Ceilings Fan

Ceilings fans are composed of different parts.

  • Ceiling Fan Blades: These are typically made of wood, plastic or metal. The number of blades ranges from 2-6.
  • Ceiling Fan Motor: The driving force of the fan
  • Metal Blade Irons: These connect the ceiling fan blades to the motor.
  • Ceiling Fan Mounting Mechanism

Typically, the ceiling fan blades extend in range from 29 – 54 inches. Some of the most popular ceiling fans are the models that have the 52 inch blade.

Ceiling fans can also assist in enhancing the décor in a home. Due to the fact that there are very many ceiling fan shapes, styles, colors and designs, they can be used to enhance the décor of any room.
